Welcome to the Senior Championship

A sea swim in the River Tay estuary for Yaaba Members

Age Limits: Seniors – 17 years and over in the year of the swim.

Date of Swim: Sunday 27th July 2008 at 10.30 hours.

Distance: 4 Miles Tide Assisted: From Olympia Centre, Dundee to YAABA pier Broughty Ferry.

Parking: At the Olympia Centre car park (parking fee payable) for the start or free at the YAABA pier, Broughty Ferry. Swimmers should arrange transport to the start, travelling by boat in not an option.

Briefing: Will be on the water-front promenade at the rear of the Hilton Hotel, Dundee at 10.15 hours on the day.

Start: On the starters/referees instruction, Swimmers should promptly access the water via the steps, and line up facing down-river. Start will be by loud hailer.

Course: This is a point-to-point, tide assisted swim using the ebbing flow of the river, taking swimmers under the Tay Road Bridge . The line will be as straight as the currents and your ability permits. Please follow your boat at all times.

Finish: By touching the river-facing wall of the YAABA pier.

N.B. A swimmer finishing, but missing the “touch” in tidal conditions will be accorded a certificate but no official time or place in the race.

Presentation: Will be at the YAABA clubhouse on completion of the swim.

Ex Baillie William Reid Shield                                 m Joan and David Paterson Trophy

In addition to the annual awards 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finishers in each category will be awarded a YAABA medal. All finishers will received a personalized certificate.
