Swim Information Sheet

Welcome to the Tayport Cup

A sea swim in the River Tay estuary
 

Age Limits:   Junior Category – 12 years to 16 years in the year of the swim

                    Senior Category – 17 years and over in the year of the swim

Date of Swim: Sunday 13th July 2008 at 11.40 hours

 

Distance 1 Mile: Crossing the river from Broughty Ferry Harbour to Tayport Harbour.

Parking - Free: A
t the YAABA pier within the bollarded area and at Beach Cresent. Swimmers should arrange their own transport from Tayport, returning in a boat is not an option.

Briefing:
Will take place at the YAABA clubhouse at 11.10 on the day.

Start
: On the Starters/Referees instruction, Swimmers should promptly access the water via the harbour mouth ladder and line up across the mouth of the harbour. Start will be by loud hailer.

Course
: This is a point-to-point, across the tide-ways swim, and the line will be as straight as the current and your ability permits. Please follow your boat at all times.

Finish: By touching the river wall to the west of Tayport harbour entrance. N.B. A swimmer finishing, but missing the “touch” in tidal conditions will be accorded a certificate but no official time or place in the race.


Presentation
: Will be in the Bell Rock Tavern, Tayport, adjacent to the harbour area (free parking), where light refreshments, sandwiches and coffee are provided by our sponsors, Joan & Dave Paterson.

In addition to the annual awards 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finishers in each category will be awarded aYAABA medal. All finishers will received a personalized certificate.
